Chris: We are excited to have codecentric partner with Topconf Duesseldorf 2017. What motivates codecentric to partner with this year's conference?
Rainer Vehns: Within the last couple of years Topconf took place throughout Europe and gained great reputation among international software conferences. An independent advisory committee ensures a non-distributer and non-product oriented selection of speakers and talks, which provides a setting driven only by the wish to teach and learn about software – not to sell it.
At codecentric, the news that Topconf would finally come to Germany was received with joy. It is a boost and an honour for our software industry to be the host country for this conference. As codecentric we are happy to return this favour by our sponsorship. Furthermore Duesseldorf as the location is quite a home match for us, since our headquarters is in Solingen. Showing our support was also beyond question due to the high demand we place on ourselves to set a good example when it comes to supporting the community.
We are also very proud that our CTO Uwe Friedrichsen joined the advisory board.
Chris: What kind of people do you like to meet at Topconf Duesseldorf 2017?
Rainer Vehns: Since Topconf combines technical tracks as well as soft skill related topics I’m looking forward to meet people from all stages of the software development cycle. The conference’s setup covers a wide range of areas: architecture, development, IoT, Fast Data, testing, user experience and so many more. Therefore I expect the crowd to be very diverse – a perfect surrounding to get into detail with people from other backgrounds and to expand our own horizons. Furthermore as an English speaking conference it invites people to join from all over the world, which promises even more fruitful insights.
Chris: What would you tell someone to convince them to attend Topconf Duesseldorf 2017?
Rainer Vehns: The range of topics allows you to see your everyday work in a bigger picture. At the same time you don’t need to forgo your favorite and most useful subjects – you can have it all in one place.
Chris: Most of the speakers for the 8 tracks for this year’s Topconf Duesseldorf 2017 conference are published. Tell us about which track(s) are most interesting to you and why.
Rainer Vehns: That’s a tough question. Actually, I think all of the tracks are relevant and promise great content. If I additionally bear in mind that successful IT projects today require people with very different skill sets who collaborate closely, I feel unable to emphasize any of the tracks. All of them are equally relevant for being successful in IT today and tomorrow.
Chris: Tell us about yourself Rainer Vehns, what is your primary vocation and what do you enjoy about it?
Rainer Vehns: I don’t know if it is really my primary vocation but I really enjoy the fast pace in software development. You are confronted with new situations, technologies and methods repeatedly and especially as a service company like codecentric. You are not allowed to rest – you always have to keep your ears and eyes open and should always be passionate about learning new things. Only thru this we can be the trusted advisor for our customers and stay true to our self-expectation as knowledge leaders.
Huge thanks to Rainer Vehns and codecentric for sponsoring Topconf Duesseldorf this year.
